Blake, thanks for sharing this. I'd not thought of these destructive disagreements in the context of what was happening in the temple, but I think your comparison is right on the mark.
Thank you so much for your insight on this subject. Praise God our church settled this issue in a Godly and constructive manner although we did have to see some of this behavior before we got there. I find it very interesting that some of the same (style of) music that has been condemned in conservative West Texas Baptist churches like the one I attend, has found its' way onto the pages of the New Baptist Hymnal. I suppose there are some who would be happy to have me sit on my blessed assurance, preferably on my hands, and never express what God is leading me to do in regard to my worship of Him. I believe once congregations grasp the reality that worship is ALL about God and what He deserves, and not about their deserving what they want, uh... you know....that whole dying to self thing, only then is God truly glorified. Again, thanks so much for the encouragement. If you get the chance please check out my new blog- Jewelry, Gems and Jesus at http://jewelrygemsandjesus.blogspot.com/ - I'd love to have you stop by - Blessings2U
